Support for anything you're carrying

 SHIRLEY PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES

Street mural reading "How are you, really?" — a reminder to check in on mental health

How are you, really?

Because we really want to know.

Life can feel overwhelming, and most of us still answer “I’m fine” on autopilot. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, parenting stress, separation, divorce, or another difficult transition, having the right support can help you make sense of what you’ve been carrying.

At Shirley Psychological Services, our therapists each bring at least 20 years of clinical experience. We provide a safe, private, and compassionate space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported.

So, how are you, really?

Men’s Mental Health, Relationship Support, Career Stress & Life Transitions

Derrick Shirley is the Director of Shirley Psychological Services and a Registered Psychologist. He works with adults across Alberta, with a particular focus on men’s mental health, relationship challenges, infidelity, separation and divorce, career stress, burnout, and major life transitions. Derrick brings a grounded, thoughtful, and practical approach to therapy, informed by attachment theory, nervous system regulation, emotion-focused therapy, and body-centred approaches.

Colleagues have jokingly referred to Derrick as “The Man Whisperer,” a reflection of his longstanding work in men’s mental health and his ability to help men talk about the parts of life that are often difficult to put into words.
